Dodge Challenger
The Dodge Challenger is one hot car no matter which way you get yours. And you know that this Pony not only improves on its predecessors power, it sets a new standard for handling, steering and maneuverability. But you want to know more than it looks good and it has won the JD Power and Associates “Most Appealing Midsize Sporty Car”. To get a better idea of which models include which features be sure to read both the following paragraphs and the charts below.

Dodge Challenger Notes:
New for 2010
As of the 2010 model year the five-speed automatic is now standard on all models, this along with the new deceleration fuel cutoff will improve gas mileage on all models. Stability control is standard on all models. Automatic headlights, LED lighted cup holder and door handle lights are standard on the Challenger R/T. Super Track Pack, including summer tires, is now an option for the Challenger R/T with manual transmission models. The Challenger SRT8 is available in a limited edition Plum Crazy trim with extras like a dash plaque with serialized car number, a plum seat-stripe insert accent.
Engines
Challenger SE Has the 3.5 liter high-output V6 Standard. Rated at 250 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque, it provides consistent engine speeds with reduced emissions, a dual intake manifold, a sophisticated electronic throttle control system, tailored pedal response (to operating conditions). The Challenger SE has a 40 HP Advantage over the competing Mustang V6.
Challenger R/T has the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 Standard. Rated at 372 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque, it boasts variable cam timing to provide increased power and performance, dual ignitors (twin spark plugs in each cylinder) to increase peak power. The Challenger R/T's 5.7 HEMI has higher rated HP (by 57 hp) and higher rated fuel economy than the competitive model Mustang GT. And the automatic transmission version of the R/T comes with the MDS version of the engine. MDS, or Multi-Displacement System engines “turn off” specific cylinders when the lower power requirements of certain driving conditions allow to greatly increase fuel economy.
Challenger SRT8 has the 6.1 liter SRT HEMI V8 Standard. Rated at 425 HP and 420 lb-ft of torque, it is the highest naturally aspirated specific-output engine we have ever offered in any Challenger. It has performance-oriented camshaft profiles, cylinder heads and exhaust systems aggressively designed to maximize airflow and engine speed, cylinder block painted in bright HEMI Orange with black valve covers. With the purchase of this engine also comes the once in a lifetime experience of “SRT Track Experience” - come to our FULL day event that puts you in the cockpit of several Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep SRT Modules. Transmissions
The 5-speed automatic transmission standard on all Challenger models with Autostick, provides the ultimate balance of performance, fuel economy, shift quality, torque management and responsiveness. Autostick is tuned to maximize each Challenger models impressive power.
A 6-Speed manual transmission is available for both the Challenger R/T and the Challenger SRT8. It features a two-disk clutch system for exceptional engagement, reduced driver pedal effort, comfort and optimized spinning inertia. All manuals come with “Hill Start Assist” to hold the car still for a second before engaging the clutch on incline starts, antispin rear axle feature. To complete the overall manual package we also provide a high performance, less restrictive exhaust system tuned to a sportier note, Larger bearings and wider gears for increased torque capacity, shifter rails modified for improved shiftability and durability, bright pedal covers, performance steering.
Brakes
Challengers do not only start fast – they stop fast too. For brakes all Challenger models use four-wheel disc brakes, but these braking systems differ from model to model to complement the capabilities and handling of the engine and suspension tuning of each. To enhance performance and provide longer life the Dodge Challenger includes air ducts to direct airflow to the front brakes. Antilock brakes, electronic stability control and traction control are standard on bothe the R/T and SRT8 and available on the SE – see Popular Equipment Package option.
- Rated at 130 ft Stopping Distance from 60 mph, the Challenger SE disc brakes use single-piston aluminum calipers, which are vented in front. The discs use a larger radius than competitive systems, for improved performance.
- Rated at 125 ft Stopping Distance from 60 mph, the Challenger R/T disc brakes use two-piston aluminum calipers up front and single piston in the rear. Front and rear are both vented.
- Rated at 110 ft Stopping Distance from 60 mph, the Challenger SRT8 uses four-piston Brembo calipers both in front and rear.
